My apologies to all. I have training this week on Networking fundamentals. Chances that I retian my sanity are slim to none.
Let's get a few things out of the way, first.
A word of thanks to Kurt for helping me to reapir my system, and discover that all of the images I thought I had lost were still on my system. While the burning of said images to the CD has proven tougher than anticipated, it is a much smaller issue than any we previously encountered. And again, congrats on your new job.
The family has returned home safely, and all are in fine condition, save for the need of as much personal space as possible. After being trapped in the same vehicle for a span of 3-4 days, the last thing anyone wants to do is share an enclosed environment with another person. Thankfully, the weather here in Minnesota is nice enough that Mom can kick everyone outside to play.
The house DID get cleaned prior to their arrival, as I worked all day on it onSunday. Or, at least, presentable. Of course, 2 days later, and I ahve nothing to show for all of that toil, but I can at least feel better about myself that I set out what I accomplished to do before they got home. Coming home and finding a clean house just feels so much better than coming home and finding yet more work to do. I went sofar as to change the sheets on all of the beds so that they would have brand new sheets to sleep in, and had intended to lay out pajamas as well. However, I got the idea that they should be warm pajamas, ran them down to the dryer, and ran that, and then fell asleep. Completely forgot about them. Poor mom and kids got in at 3am Monday morning.
Monday night we attended the Twins Home Opener, as tradition insists. Which is not to say that anyone dreaded it. It's one of the things we all look forward to doing as a family. However, when the opposing pitcher is pitching a 2 hit shutout, there isn't much for the kids to get excited about. So they get bored, and there's only so many times that you can run to get food or take them for bathroom breaks or whatever to keep them occupied.
It's a tough balance, because you want to watch the game as mucha s any other fan, but it's up to you to also entertain and mind your children who don't have as long of an attention span. You try to get them involved in the game, but even I ahve to admit, it's hard to get involved when the team doesn't give you much oppurtunity to. There was a spurt of action when the team rallied back to score 4 runs and tie it up, but by the time the 10th inning rolled around it was 10:45pm, and any strain of patience or stamina the kids might have had was was gone 2 innings before.
It's a sin to leave any baseball game early. Or any sporting event for that matter, but especially baseball. In baseball, anything can happen at any time, and you'll only regret it when you leave early and mis out on a late inning rally. It's the first rule or law of a baseball fan. Right before "Never, under any circumstances, contribute to the evil forces that is known as 'THE WAVE'". But that is a different discussion.
With children, however, you are sometimes forced to break the cardinal rule of baseball fans. You operate off of their time clock, not your own. Sometimes you have to accept your losses and move on. And at a quater to 11pm, with school the next morning, and boredom not only set in but set in and BURROWING; it's your duty to take them home. And not only for their health or your own, but out of respect of your neighboring fans who have put up with their climbing around, and yelling, and spilling of food, etc.
So it was with a heavy heart that we left a tightly contested game, walk back to the parking lot, only to turn on the car radio to hear Shannon Stewart hit a 3 run home run to win the game.
HOWEVER!
It all sets the stage for later years, when we can watch games togeather, and not have to worry about this or that or the other. It exposes the kids to a wonderful sport, and it brings us closer as a family. The very little pain we suffer now will pay off years later when my grown daughters decide to take their old man out to the park for a ballgame. Their treat. And by that time, I'll have lost any sort of bowel control and I get to ASK THEM TO TAKE ME TO THE BATHROOM 4 TIMES AN INNING!!!! MWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
(I know, Too much info. )
The Twins won yet another game last night, though it took 15 innings, an all star centerfielder, a rookie phenom catcher, and a gas throwing pitcher to do so. Kinda spendy for a win, but we'll take it. If the Twins keep this up, the could go undefeated! Or not.
The hero last night was Jose Offerman, a utility infielder kept on the team for pinch hitting. Well, he did his job last night, getting a sinlge with the bases loaded to close out the game. the night before, Shannon Stewart was the hero (as mentioned before) with his 3 run blast. I would provide a picture of Shannon Stewart, but it turns out there is a "film star" with the same name. I wouldn't necessarily suggest doing a Google search for him OR her at work.
Which reminds me. I had a limo run on Saturday, which is to say I was the driver of said limo, instead of the passenger. the occasion? Stag party. Some guy was getting married,a d his friends were off to have him buried at sea.
"I'm getting married in the morning.
DING DONG! The bells are gonna chime!
Something something something
Something something something
BUt get me to the church on time!"
(Does it say anything about me that I know songs from "My Fair Lady"?)
WE hit a seedy bar, and then we hit BJ, which is an even seedier topless club, and then followed it up by a trip to King of Diamonds, which while I've never been there, has some of the scariest dancers in their commercials. Scary as in.....communicable, if you catch my drift. Hmmm....maybe catch isn't the best word there....
After the limo run, they offered me to stick around afterwards for a floor show in the pole barn. 2 girls showed up from a "modeling agency" to put on a bit of a show. It would have "filled the hole" that was missing from the previous show I had hoped to see at the previous party. Unfortuantely, the women lacked any appeal whatsoever, which totally negated any sort of value to the show, killing any mood they tried to create, and leaving me to seek the sanctity of my home and a hot shower, replacing the loofa with a brillo pad.
Of course, the customers that had hired the girls either were too drunk or too desperate to care. So they ate up the show. I'll leave it to your imagination if that is meant int he literal or figurative sense.
Oops. time for more Network training. Will write more when I can.
