Song of the Day:

Hey!
Shut up.
Don't lie to me.
You think I'm blind but I got eyes to see
Hey!
Mister, how do you do.
Oh pardon me I thought I knew you.
Would you stand back baby 'cause I want to get a better look.
The big man who couldn't handle the little bit of love you took.

Hey, hey, have a heart, hey, have a heart.
If you don't love me, why don't you let me go?
Have a heart, please, oh don't you have a heart?
Little by little you fade while I fall apart.

Oh Oh Oh darling, I love you so.
I told you yes, and then you told me no.
Baby, how can you say
You should be free and I should pay and pay
And you talk and talk about you and what you need
But sooner or later your love is gonna make me bleed.

Paulina Flores for your viewing pleasure:

Part of the wonder that is parenting is to see the comparisons and contrasts between your offspring. Lately, this has become more and more apparent for me. Bailey, the youngest, has now grown to an age where she has an opinion about things. And when she doesn't get her way, she throws a tantrum as would be appropriate for her age. However, she goes about it quite differently than her predecessors did. It's all about style, and expressing the inner "them".

Restory's technique was a bold simple statment of sticking out her lower lip as far as it would go, and declaring in her most defiant voice, "No, Daddy!" in mid sob. It was as much of a desperate attempt to set reailty back to her own perception as it was a declaration that it was not her at fault, but Daddy instead. Denial at it's most base form.

Anna, however, preferred a much more dramatic, yet subdued form of non-compliance. taking to heart the lessons of Muhatma Ghandi, whenever faced with any conflict which was inveitably not going to go her way, she resorted to passive-resistance, by collapsing to the ground, and playing dead for a span of a few minutes. Once she recovered, she was ready to subit to whatever decision or demand that was made of her. Now, after some royal fits from restory, this was a blessing, and don't think we knew it!

And now Bailey has developed her own form of tantrum, wholly different than those of her 2 siblings. When agitated corectly (or incorrectly, depending on your view), she will scream, sob, and yell, and run in place, stamping her feet on the ground. Bailey has gone back to the old tried and true style, completely unbothered by any sort of cliche' or stereotype that might have been set by previous children throughout history. For she knows that when it is properly executed, it can be a sublime form of art, muh like any other interpretive dance. Of course, if she all of a sudden decides to mimic a "blossoming woman" or some such thing at the tender age of 3 and drinking TAB, we'll have problems. But for now, we'll enjoy her perfomances.

OK, so that's a lie. We won't enjoy it. They're tantrums for crying out loud.

But I do find it interesting how unique each of them are, and this is just illustrates how different they are from each other, despite growing up in very much the same environment. Not the exact same, since Restory was an only child, and Anna was the first to grow up with an older sister, and Bailey ahd 2 sisters to draw upon. And of couse, we'd like to think we've become better parents in the years that have passed. On the other hand, they each have the same values and beliefs and morals preached to them that we always have. Those same basic beliefs that our family abides by.

It's a short update today. I wanted to write more, but things have spiraled out of control. Nothing bad, but it's how it goes. We'll talk more later.
